Auto-Orient along path
Right-click any layer with a motion path, then Transform > Auto-Orient > Orient Along Path. Your layer follows the curve automatically.
Pre-compose with retained properties
Shift + Ctrl/Cmd + C to pre-compose while keeping transform properties on the parent comp. Prevents layers from unexpectedly jumping.
Expression pickwhip to create relative links
Alt/Option + click the stopwatch to enable expressions, then use the pickwhip to link properties without typing a single line of code.
Freeze frame shortcut
Select a layer, press Ctrl/Cmd + Alt/Option + F to instantly freeze the current frame — no need to manually set time remapping.
Column-collapse triangles for layer groups
Use the small triangle next to layer names in the timeline to collapse transform properties in bulk — speeds up navigation in complex comps.

Null layer as camera rig
Parent a camera to a null layer positioned at your focal point. Rotating the null orbits the camera naturally — much cleaner than animating camera XYZ directly.

Shift + scroll to scroll timeline

Double-click mask to enter mask edit mode
